Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade. The majority of the students in my classroom come from Spanish-only households and/or live in the neighborhood low-income housing project. I also have a few students of other nationalities such as Indian, Japanese, Filipino, as well as African Americans. Many of their parents are unable to support their English-language learning at home. Nevertheless, my students excel in the classroom. I have the only first grade class with ELD students and we would love to show off our work!
My Project
My class is attempting to be better organized and to display their work. Not only will they see their progress, but they will also be able to display their great work for others to see and to learn from each other. The material requested will allow me to better display charts that we create as a class.
The materials will also allow us to create work as a group.
With the Post-it Self-stick Tabletop Easel Pad, the students would be able to work as a group in creating writing pieces as well as be able to have examples and directions for writing that they are working on.
With the colorful cardstock, I can create materials that will last for a year or even more. this would be helpful for writers and readers workshop templates, flow maps, examples, and sequencing.
With the Book Buddy Bags, the students will be able to take home books for the week and allow them to be able to progress at the same level as those students who have reading books at home.
