Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are gifted first, second, third and fourth graders in a low socio-economic area of North Texas. Our gifted program serves five elementary schools. These students come from varied backgrounds and cultures. They are talented, imaginative, and creative children; however, they all have one thing in common--they love to learn.
Some are talented young artists, others are future novelists, one of them may someday lead our country.
All of them will definitely need 21st century skills when they leave public schooling and enter into the "real world."
My Project
We are asking for a wireless microphone with speakers for our classroom. Our class is located outside the main building in a portable building. We love our location and it offers us many opportunities; however, there is one downfall...our ac/heating unit is LOUD! We all have to yell to be heard over the fan when it kicks on. It is not conducive to classroom discussion or sharing. I have looked at wireless microphone systems for myself when teaching, but the kids need to be heard also.
This QBall is the perfect solution!
Created for the classroom, it is a wireless microphone housed inside a soft ball that can be tossed from student to student for class discussion. But, it can also be worn on a lanyard by students when they give oral presentations. The best of both worlds! We are also asking for a speaker and storage case to go with the microphone to keep it safe and make it transportable for presentations outside the classroom.
We are also asking for a class set of binders for students to use for presentations and organizers. Thank you for considering our project and for your support of public education.
