Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our community school is very diverse where many backgrounds and languages are represented. For most of our students, English is not the primary language. As a result, our students face challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face on an every day basis, my school is always looking to provide our students with meaningful learning experiences.
As Albert Einstein said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." Learning needs to be an active process.
It is my goal as an educator to help my students not only reach the next reading level, but to keep my students motivated to learn.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are the writing utensils we use daily. With an interactive classroom, we are constantly using highlighters and flair pens. As a result, our current supply of our daily writing materials are running low. Donations to this project will help us get the "write" supplies.
My students struggle to organize their ideas when it comes to reading.
These highlighters and flair pens would allow my students to develop a deeper understanding of what they are reading. My students always highlight important information when they read a text. Then, they have to write a response to their reading, so the flair pens would be used to color code their written responses to make sure that they answer each part of the question by following our EATS response. The overhead transparency markers that I am requesting we use every morning for morning announcements. The markers will help us continue to fill out the important daily information shared over announcements to keep our school informed of lunch, recess, and birthdays.
