My students need a variety of writing and organizational supplies, including pencils, notebook paper, assorted colors of crayons and markers, folders, pencil boxes, magnetic clips, organization stations and student mailboxes.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The reality of today's educational systems is budget cuts. Our district has been faced with countless cuts that have negatively impacted our schools, classrooms, and ultimately, our students. Though the budget cuts have been difficult to endure, I feel fortunate this year to be given the opportunity to teach Reading and Language Arts to two homogeneously grouped classes which include the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) population and as well as English Language Learners.
One of my goals in teaching is to assist students in gaining both confidence and a strong sense of self-worth. Unfortunately, the students that I teach often enter my room with the negative mentality that they cannot achieve or succeed in school. This is often because of environmental and socioeconomic factors well beyond their control. Every child deserves to know that they CAN achieve regardless of their background.
Through this project, I am hoping to put together writing folders for each of my students. Each student will have his/her own folder along with the necessary supplies needed to fill the pages with thoughts, memories, and ideas. Through the writing folders the students will build a sense of pride in their work. Success will be evident when their masterpiece is "mailed" to the teacher after all of their hard work.
In addition to building fundamental writing skills, these materials will provide countless opportunities for my students to express their thoughts, believed, ideas, and dreams. They will serve as an outlet of expression for students who sometimes find themselves overwhelmed by the emotion that their environment can sometimes bring. By donating these items to my class, you will be donating more than just the basics that I am asking for--you will be donating a sense of pride and self-worth that these students so desperately deserve.
