This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are facing a life of what ifs and don't haves! We need to change that , and I can not tell my students we simply do not have the material for a project, because we are suppose to have everything, after all we are the most put together place these students know!
My students are from a high poverty area where the basics are not met allot of the times!
They love being expressive in our little middle school! My students do not know about the big big world around them, they are sheltered to their own area because of the poverty, so as an art teacher I attempt to show them anything they show the smallest amount of interest in, just so they can grasp more knowledge of the world around them!
My Project
I am requesting glue and paper because we are currently out of the items and my students are in need of the basics! Imagine being in an art class with no paper and no glue, that's like a fish out of water, a bird that can not fly, a car with out tires! Art class must have glue and paper, it really must have the basics to do even the simplest of things!
This project is important because we are lacking the general items in our art class.
How can you have art with out construction paper and glue sticks? It is beyond my understanding on how this has happened and how we will continue.
