Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a ceramics teacher at a high school in Arizona. A lot of my students are English Language learners and live at the poverty level.
My students need items to make texture on their ceramics projects. Right now we have a minimal amount of objects, and many students do not have items at home to bring in. The art budget does not allow for much. It is fully funded by the student's 10 dollar fee which they have to pay, but that money goes entirely to the cost of clay and glazes. Consequently, there is no money left over to buy items for making texture.
By having items to make texture, such as shells, clay molds, stamps, buttons and beads, the students will be able to make creative textures on their projects. Having classroom items will also relieve the pressure on students who cannot and do not have items to bring in to use on their ceramics projects.
You can make it possible for my students to achieve in ceramics!! Thank you for giving them the materials to make beautiful textures on projects that they will cherish for years to come.
