Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our class is a community of learners and presenters. We take responsibility for our own learning. Students know that the bulk of the work lies on their shoulders, and that their parents and I are their support team, here to help them learn in any way we can.
The students in our class and school study at an urban, Title I school, where nearly all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our students are energetic, have a strong desire to learn, and can count on strong parental support. Many of our students are English language learners and many of our families are classified at lower socioeconomic levels.
My Project
21st-century learning requires meaningful discussions and effective collaboration. Completing group work or taking part in strong discussions requires a space where these can occur. These tables allow all students to face each other during discussions and access materials when working on group projects.
These tables will have an enormous impact on our learning by establishing strong learning teams.
The discussions and collaboration that these tables will enhance are skills we use all day, in all content areas, but especially during hands-on math and STEM and science work, the visual arts, social studies, and literature and writing discussions.
These tables will be a great improvement for discussions and collaboration. Our current desks require two of the four students to stand to complete work with their groups.
