This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students arrive to art looking forward to hands-on activities. I want my classroom to have sturdy safe equipment for a sculpture table. The challenge is limited funding at my Title I school.
My students are in grades nine through twelve in a Title I school setting.
They come to art motivated to try new media and enjoy art projects and to learn new skills from each other and through guided instruction. Many requested sculpture this year on their interest inventory sheet.
My Project
Students will learn safe work habits while working with sculpture materials. Sturdy science tables with an epoxy surface will provide a very good working surface for all media and will begin to replace many torn up tables. Goggles will be to protect students' eyes while working with plaster sculpture materials. Rasps, mallets and sculpture tools will be used to shape materials.
Donations to this project will begin to bring a new medium that students have requested to life!
The tables will allow for sturdy work surfaces which are needed in the studio classroom.
