Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach PPCD. Our classroom is filled with books, laughter, music, and the development of language! My elementary school is a Title I school with the majority low-income students in Austin. Our students are socially, racially, and economically diverse. Almost 20% of our students are receiving Special Education services.
Teachers at my school work exceptionally hard to accommodate all of our special learners and find ways to teach outside the box.
Our students are eager to learn, eager to grow, and eager to be successful! We represent the diversity of our unique neighborhood and city.
My Project
We have so much equipment to enhance our outdoor learning time, but nowhere to store it! We need a shed for our tricycles, hula hoops, balls, blocks, trucks, pails, shovels, and more. Right now we don't use our equipment as much as we should because we don't have a place to store it outside. We really need a nice sized shed that we can keep outside so we can access all our good equipment when we're playing on the playground. With a new storage shed, our students will be able to use our outdoor learning materials to enhance their motor skills, develop play skills with peers, and get their wiggles out.
