Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom is fun with lots of hands-on learning. My students are so eager to learn and love school so much. They get excited about new things and new topics we learn about.
Most of my students come from a lower-income family and 100% of my campus is on free lunch.
My students are very young and love helping me out. My students typically come from all sorts of backgrounds, things other people may not be experiencing at their homes. A lot of the time, my students come to school hungry, sleepy, or they may not even have a bed to sleep in. Our school is a place where they can get their needs met both emotionally and physically. I want to ensure my students feel safe and want to come to school.
My Project
I am trying to make learning the alphabet more engaging and hands on for my little learners. The only way they can be successful in learning the alphabet and science at the same time is through hands on activities.
Having these basic supplies, will allow me to create numerous STEAM boxes for the children to use during their centers and free time choices.
I need the pencil boxes to store the activities in so that I can make them for each student, based on their needs. Hole punchers and the plastic counters are for activities that will be within the boxes. And the plastic letters and clothes pins will also be apart of the materials available to them to work with.
