Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine being a new teacher in a low income school. Imagine that there have been budget cuts and your resources are limited. Now imagine there are multiple new teachers in the same building. We need basic classroom supplies on our campus. Want to help?
We are a dynamic recognized campus of inspired learners and teachers.
I teach 1st grade in a bilingual program at a Title I school. Many of my students are limited English proficient, at-risk, and of low socioeconomic status. I know that my students are fully capable of becoming successful scientists, readers, writers and mathematicians.
My Project
We have growing pains in a time of budget cuts. Our new teachers to our campus need basic supplies such as pens and highlighters for writing. Writing is a daily activity in every classroom. Obviously, these resources are essential. Post it notes are used everywhere. Teachers send messages to parents. Students make notes in books as they read. The list is endless. We also need loads of colored copier paper. Many times we color code the copies we make for our students. Blue paper for math, green for science, orange for language arts, yellow for parents' notes, etc. Unfortunately, copier paper of any color is a luxury now. Students also need printer paper to print technology assignments such as Word documents and PowerPoint presentations they work on in the computer lab. These are just a few of the much needed resources we need on our campus.
You never realize how much you need basic materials until you don't have enough.
Your gift can provide copier paper and highlighters, pens, composition notebooks, labels and post-it notes for our students' daily classroom activities and assignments. Please consider giving to our project. You can be a part of the education of a child.
