Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is Title I, with the majority of my students qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch. As our class sizes grow, my budget always seems to be decreasing.
My fourth-grade classroom is home to 33 eager students with a diversity of cultures, interests and learning styles.
My fourth graders are some of the hardest working students I know. They don't allow themselves to be limited by what they have, and I do everything I can to give them the best year I can. They may come from different cultures, backgrounds, religions, and skin colors, but we are a family.
My Project
A lot of my students come to school without eating breakfast and will sometimes not eat all day. They struggle through the day because they are so hungry and can't focus. This leads to sluggish, tired, and frustrated students. They are falling behind due to their lack of focus.
Working in a Title I school definitely has its difficulties, but students having food shouldn't be one of them.
With your donation, I can have snacks on hand for students who don't have access to food on a regular basis. In turn, this will help their focus and allow them to learn without the distraction of their stomach rumbling.
