We Need Sharp Pencils For Our Sharp Minds!
My students need a pencil sharpener! My students also need pencils and erasers so we can continue to work hard!
Our classroom is very busy and very fun! We work hard everyday. School needs to be a place where students want to be. Just because we work hard does not mean we don't have fun. We do activities that are not only aligned with the core, but that are fun and meaningful.
Our school is located in one of the more diverse areas of Utah.
We have students from 5 different countries in our class. We have students with disabilities. We have talked about our differences, and accept each other. We like to have fun together. We make mistakes sometimes, but we have learned to laugh at ourselves and learn from our mistakes.
We use pencils in almost every single task we do. It never ceases to amaze me how many pencils a second grade class can go through, there is never enough. It should not surprise me that our poor pencil sharpener (that was on it's last limb) died. It is time for a new one!
We have a classroom job called "Pencil Sharpener".
This job has been retired for a few weeks now. The students want it back very badly. We have 4 handheld pencil sharpeners that students brought from home. This is not enough and they waste a lot of learning time. I have been taking the pencils to the break room during recess to sharpen. But this is wasting planning time. We need sharp pencils and even sharper minds!
