This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Every morning as soon as my students come in.... we drop everything and read!

Every morning my students start the day with time to read, and yet the majority of the time is spent looking for a book or wanting to read the same book as their neighbor.

They are just starting to discover the joys of reading and are so excited to share what they are learning and reading.

My Project

By having the kindles in the room the students will be able to read new titles, and read a book together without having to share one copy. This will also allow the emerging readers who struggle to read alone the chance to read along with audio to improve their fluency and comprehension.

Reading is a fundamental skill that my students will need throughout their lives.

Giving them the chance to find books they are interested in and have the time to practice reading on their own will greatly increase their reading ability over time.
