My students need pencils, spiral notebooks, dry erase markers, and individual whiteboards to solve thousands of math problems, and learn from each and every one.

My Students

The fifth grade students at our school work HARD each and every day. We are an upper elementary school in Southern Mississippi. The students come from all walks of life. Many families are low-income, and purchasing school supplies is financially impossible.

Each smiling face that walks through the front door deserves equal access to school supplies.

We demand excellence from the our students, and they rise to the challenge without hesitation. These students work every day to achieve their dreams, some just need a boost to make it a bit easier to reach them.

My Project

Learning math means sitting down with pencil and paper and solving problem after problem after problem after problem. This is tricky when students do not have a pencil or paper to write on.

It is amazing how a math lesson can go from wearisome to wonderful by simply switching that paper and pencil out for a whiteboard and marker.

The whiteboards also show me exactly who is struggling, and how to correct their mistakes.

We are four weeks into school. Our stash of pencils and dry erase markers (along with my wallet) are running low!
