We have such a diverse group of kids at my school: kids from all different backgrounds and from different socio-economic levels. We have gifted kids and kids with special needs.
I work directly with students who struggle with reading and math, and who need some extra help to get caught up.
Many of my students are English language learners. They all have something in common. They all love to learn. They also love reading new books and experiencing new things.
My Project
I love getting books into the hands of kids! I am a firm believer that kids need lots of high interest books to become avid readers!
I want the students at my school to have quality, high interest books in their homes!
Therefore, during I Love To Read Month and during other times in the school year, we thrive to give away lots of books. We use donations, help from PTA, and Donors Choose to get the books. Most of the books we acquire are fiction, because we can often get more fiction books for our money than nonfiction.
I would like to start collecting nonfiction books to give away also. This proposal has several nonfiction titles that will interest kids. These books will be given out for birthdays, I love to read month and other occasions. Students will be able to keep these books!!
Thank your for helping me get books into the hands of kids!
