This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach students in grades 9-12. They are in classes as beginners to playing an instrument through advanced.
I need resources to help provide my students with many different opportunities.
I want to give them every opportunity to see things they have never seen and experience things they have never experienced. I hope I can give them many chances to do just that in the short time that they are my students. They are active learners ready to take on new challenges.
My Project
This project is for new music for our orchestra. We are in need of new music as the orchestra program builds and grows. Most of the students now in orchestra have played the majority of the music that the school owns. We are in need of new and more challenging music. Music is very expensive. Just one piece for orchestra is usually between $50-$60. We do not have a budget at all. We have to fund-raise and write grants to get anything we need for the class. We are in desperate need of new music and now funds to purchase anything for next year.
