This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My student-athletes are active and eager to learn how to live more healthy lifestyles. Many come from broken homes where much of the information about how to live a healthy lifestyle is not translated to them.

I want to create an opportunity where they can learn more about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle and give them skills (with the help of technology) to then be able to teach others the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and pass on the good habits!

My Project

The chess club has very active students on campus that also love to fellowship together through a common interest; playing chess! The strategies necessary to be a successful chess player help my students develop a strategic mind and very strong critical thinking skills.

On our campus we have seen a strong influence in our special needs populations.

Students in our special education program have really flourished playing the game of chess in recent years. It is a really neat thing to see!

We are hoping to secure enough resources to have the ability to host tournaments with other local clubs at high schools in our area.
