Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are low income and do not have access to newspapers and the Internet. These magazines will help them connect to the world around them, and expand their horizons.
They enjoy the maps and graphs that both magazines contain.
I teach in an area where the students are predominantly low income.
Several of my students are Hispanic and do not speak English at home. They need to have access to newspapers in English to help them learn about the world outside of their neighborhood. These resources will aid the students in increasing knowledge about the world outside of their home.
My Project
We would like these magazines, so we can read weekly about the world around us. I would like to have one magazine per child.
When we receive these resources, we can write to our leaders, study maps and graphs and be active citizens.
Social Studies funding is being cut by many districts and I feel like it is very important to our students.
