This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is 3-4 mixed age preschool/prekindergarten inclusion with full of inquisitive scholars! They are purely and naturally curious, passionate, and ready to learn.
My elementary school is Title I school in Washington, DC with more than 70% students eligible for Free And Reduced Meals (FARM).
Many of our students have limited access to learning environments. Due to a full range of exposure to learning and students' unique learning styles, differentiated teaching is extensively used in our classrooms. Our students are a group of fun and amazing scholars ready for challenges!
My Project
These hands-on toys will be used in every way possible. We are looking for more pretend-play props for different themes throughout the year. Our curriculum, Tools of the Mind, focuses on dramatic play with different themes such as restaurant and pet-vet. Toys like Appliances, Pizza Toggle game, and Burger stacker will be great concrete props that are much more visible and easy-to-understand compared to props that are created by students. It will be very helpful for our students with differing needs.
Hands-on toys encourage students' imagination and their eager to explore and learn.
We are also looking for toys for math/science center. Magnetic center with different patterns, measurement activity set, and feeding the animal set will enable students to experience math via play. Imagine a child sitting down learning numbers and patterns via worksheet and compare that child with another child who is learning the same concept through play. Help us create an environment that is full of academic-friendly play!
