My Students

I teach in a rural high school that is surrounded by cornfields and Amish farms. Most of my students have never ventured beyond our county lines. This is my seventh year as a media specialist where I have worked very hard to make the library the heart of the school.

My main focus is getting kids to love reading.

To do that, I need to get the right books to my students. I have been working to make our school library collection contemporary, diverse, and inclusive.

My Project

The Poet X and I Am Not Your Perfect American Daughter are two titles that students can choose for self selected reading through their English classes. Having these titles available for checkout in the library means that students can have a copy to take home to read as well as use in the classroom.

It is my wish to provide as many contemporary and diverse titles as possible for students to have access to from the library.

The more titles I have available the better chance there is for a student to find a title of interest.
