We are a Title I school, and many of our students do not have opportunities that many other children have. I too would like to expand and engage my students' learning beyond the classroom to include other areas around the world, their home, their lives, and their community.
With our current generation, students are more digitally attached than ever before and I am certain that with the help with Chromebooks, they'll be able to access information right from their fingertips.
This project will ensure that we have Chromebooks in the class to support a 1:1 ratio of technology for all students because we are currently not 1:1 and it's hard for students to share when they need to work on a project.
My Project
I am the only 4th-grade teacher at my school who is currently a Google Certified Educator in both Level 1 and Level 2 who implements Google Classroom, as well as other online technology for student learning. For my school, we are not at 1:1 in terms of technology so a lot of times, my students have to share Chromebooks when they're working on projects or even online tests. It's been a headache for my students because they have to wait for another student to finish their tests, which can take more than an hour.
What I'm currently hoping to receive as part of this project are 2 additional Chromebooks that will ease some of the frustration my students have when we're using technology in the classroom.
Although we will still not be 1:1, I will work my way up to achieve that goal so that my students have access to computers at all times and not have the burden of sharing when working on assignments.
Google has created so many resources for educators such as myself and I want my students to be able to explore the endless possibilities Google has to offer and truly use my certification skills to the max with my students because it's limited as of right now since computer access is limited at my school.
