Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I do a push-in program for gifted and talented students (GATE). What this means is that I go into the classroom and meet the needs of not only GATE students, but the rest of the class. Our school is over 95% free and reduced lunch which makes us a Title 1 school.
Our school motto this year is Building a Legacy of Incredible Student Success (BLISS), but we can't do this if our technology is not up-to-date.
We need more up-to-date technology that supports the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects that are out there. Is so sad when a child loses their love for technology because of frustration with it not being capable to other technology.
My Project
Our iPad are generations behind or are being used for testing. We need an iPad with the ability to connect to some of the new robots for coding. Our old iPad are not compatible to them.
Our other need for a new iPad is that we need an iPad with enough memory capacity so we are not constantly deleting apps to load other apps and losing our work.
This wastes time for the students. It creates frustration which stifles our creativity and critical problem skills. We want to create students who embrace STEM activities, not have a bad taste for it because the technology is out of date.
The benefits for having an updated iPad are that more students will be able to do the activity. The students will not lose work that has been saved on the app which allows them to work more in depth on STEM projects thus expanding their creativity and problem solving skills..
