I am the librarian at a small public school which is nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. My school has 150 students of many diverse and unique backgrounds. We are a Title I school with well over 65% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Almost 15% of our students are homeless. Numerous families receive weekend food assistance in their child's backpack from our local food bank.
Many of my students are reluctant readers and an academic success does not come easily or quickly.
In our school, we strive to create warm, safe and welcoming classrooms while maintaining a fun, creative learning atmosphere.
My Project
This chart stand is magic on wheels. Not only is it a sturdy flip chart stand, it also has magnetic white boards on either side, contains a writing utensil tray and two large storage buckets at the bottom of the stand. And the best part? It's on wheels!
Having the ability to easily maneuver your learning environment into a small pockets of space is the name of the game in education today as we strive to meet the needs of our diverse learning populations.
I am asking for 3 stands to go into 3 different classrooms. In these classrooms, assistants or other specialized teachers come in daily to work with a small group of students. A mobile teaching stand would allow the small group instructor, to create a miniature teaching environment in a corner of a regular classroom, without interfering with the learning going on in the rest of the room. The large whiteboard space will allow all students to see the material and the storage buckets will help the small group teacher to keep materials close by and not get lost in the shuffle of materials in rest of the room.
