Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need materials to help them learn to write. We need little pencils and crayons for little hands to be able to grip.
Welcome to our preschool class, where fun and learning never ends.
We need some supplies to help us with our fine motor skills! I am a special education teacher and I teach a preschool, self-contained class. My students have varied disabilities ranging from speech and language delays, cognitive delays, gross/fine motor delays, to autism. We spend our day doing many activities to help the students learn and develop skills they are delayed in. Some of my students cannot grip the pencil or crayon appropriately and have a hard time writing, coloring, or drawing. I even break the crayons in half so it will be easier for them to grip. I do many different activities to help them strengthen their fine motor skills while making it interesting. With that being said, we are in need of new writing materials.
My Project
I am requesting the handwriting without tears toolkit, which comes with many lessons, tips, and songs to use while teaching writing. The songs will help the students remember how to write letters while making it fun. The kit also has many activities we can use to teach about letters using wooden pieces to form letters, play dough, and a chalk board. The small pencils and crayons I am requesting will make it easier for my students to write with as it will be easier to grip than a regular pencil. Lastly, the tweezers will strengthen my students fine motor skills. They will be able to pick things up with the tweezers, which will strengthen their hand muscles.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom because my students will have materials to help them with writing skills and strengthen their fine motor skills.
My students will be exposed to the handwriting without tears program which is a great program that teaches writing. They will enjoy many different ways to learn about letters and how to write letters.
