“Most of what I really need to know about how to live, what to do, and how to be, I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom did not lie at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the kindergarten classroom.” - Robert Fulghum
I teach thirty, creative, energetic kindergarten students.
My students all come from diverse backgrounds. I also have several students with special needs. We enjoy reading, math, music and creating art. I want my students to love learning and school. Since this is the first school experience for many of my students, I want to make sure it is a positive one. Learning should be fun and we have a lot of fun in my classroom, but we also learn a lot.
My Project
I am in need of three more laptops for my kindergarten classroom.
Unfortunately, someone broke into my classroom and stole some of my laptops and I am trying to replace them as soon as possible, so my students can use them in the classroom again.
If I had these three computers replaced in my classroom, I could have it be one of my Free Choice activities in which the students could practice their mouse, word processing skills, as well as content areas such as letters, sounds and numbers practice. By having computers in the classroom, it would enable all the students to work at their own level and to be able to move at their own pace. By having a computer station in my class, it would enable my students to become more proficient with technology.
I would be able to individualize my students' instruction based on their skill level. It would also help them in the future because in third grade, all the common core assessments are now on computers and the students need a lot of practice. My students need more time to learn how to use technology. Please help me replace the stolen laptops.
