Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a diverse group of third-grade students from a small farming community in northern California. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals. We are part of the No Excuses University program.
Our public school has a large number of free or reduced-price lunch students.
Many students are not able to bring much-needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.
My Project
We are trying to create our classroom into a flexible seating classroom. In order to do that, it would be great to have some lap desks for those students who would like to just sit on the floor and do their room. With these lap desks, children could move to different parts of the room to complete their work quietly. They will be comfortable and be able to focus on the task.
Allowing students to chose their seating arrangements is important for the student to develop good habits.
It allows students to make correct choices on who they can and cannot sit by in order to complete their work. With these lap desks, students can chose areas they can work at.
