My Students

The mission of our school is to provide a differentiated, challenging education to meet the distinctive intellectual, social and emotional needs of our students. Our school serves as an elementary school of choice with children from the school’s surrounding neighborhoods provided first choice to attend. Our school also continues as the home of the county-wide gifted center, a choice program for highly gifted students in grades three through eight who qualify for the program.

My students are full of energy and curiosity for learning.

My students want to do their best and strive every day to show pride in their learning. My classroom is a safe place for my students to come to learn and to grow into strong, independent people.

My Project

One area that my students struggle in is using math and science vocabulary words. Often times, vocabulary study is left to making flash cards, which doesn't engage students. To make vocabulary study more engaging for students, I want them to be able to use iPad specific apps to make their learning more meaningful and fun.

The iPads we are requesting will make our learning more engaging.

Having two iPads in our classroom will give us daily access to apps such a Padlet, WordFoto, and Flipgrid. These apps will allow students to interact with their vocabulary words, not simply memorize the word's definition.

By making our science and math vocabulary learning fun, students will better understand the concepts they are trying to learn in each of those subjects.
