Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is on the southwest side of a large city in Illinois in a neighborhood that is largely Mexican-American. While some people might think of our students as impoverished since over 98% of our kids qualify for free school lunch, I don't think of them in those terms. Instead, I look at them as the next generation of engineers, lawyers, doctors, and internet geniuses. They are hardworking kids who enjoy each other and their middle school experience.
It is my privilege to work with such intelligent, charismatic, and dedicated students.
Unfortunately, the current city budget has severely cut funds at our school, and we lack the tools to teach our students.
My Project
We need basic supplies. My students need ink for our printer so they can better share their work and ideas with the class. These supplies will help them succeed.
These supplies will allow my students to work to their best potential.
It will help me as a teacher to have all the supplies I need to teach. With budget crisis it is very difficult for to received all the supplies, I need for my students. Students are constantly loosing their papers.
Being able to print instructions the students have misplaced will save learning time. Allowing students to print in the class will give the students the peace they need. Many not being able to print at home because of not owning a printer, will be able to print in my class.
