As the librarian, I am privileged to work with 476 eager-to-learn students. My school is a Title I school, with 90% free and reduced lunch. Our city/state has recently felt the effects of not only the oil and gas downturn but also the reduction of coal production. We are bracing ourselves for a large reduction in state and district funding in the upcoming school year(s) with the knowledge and desire to still meet student needs.
My students face many challenges, challenges that many of us will never experience in our lifetime.
I am astonished by the great attitudes, love for learning and the kindness my students have, regardless of the challenges they face.
My Project
Incentives are an important way to learn in the library. Knowing that there is an award at the end of our goal, helps encourage us to do our best. I need your help to add some great new incentives to our library day. For our behavior we need treats and treasure box goodies.
Encouraging good behaviors and choices are important, so incentives help students see the importance of meeting the goal set before them.
With your help they can successfully meet their goal and learn that being nice and making good choices are important every day and every where they go.
