We Need Guitars To Keep On Jammin'!
My students need 8 Acoustic Guitars.
I currently teach guitar to 6-8 grade at a North GA public school. I started the program 3 years ago with 15 guitars. With budget cuts, I need at least 25-30 students in my class or it will be cut next school year.
These students run to my class to pick up a guitar.
Sometimes they have to share instruments. We have no funding for books or even guitar picks. I use the pick puncher and sometimes those credit card picks don't last very long. We also performed in the gym recently but the guitar students struggled without a monitor speaker. These students deserve a lot better! They work so hard and love their guitar lab.
All I am requesting is 8 - 10 more guitars so we can keep this class alive. If not, those same students will end up taking a general music class. They are very frustrated and are praying real hard that we can gather more instruments. With more guitars, we will be able to perform more concerts with more instruments. The students will feel much better playing with a larger ensemble.
Please help this dream come alive!
It will mean everything to my students, my principal and myself. These students may not excel in some of the academic areas. But they can play so well and feel great about themselves! Please save our guitar program!!!
