We Need Drums!

My students need drums in our music classroom to build our instrument inventory. We currently do not have enough drums for all of our students to participate and many are broken and cannot be used.

My Students

The music classroom at my school is so special because it has the most amazing students! Every student in the school comes through my classroom for music class, and they all are amazing.

Students of all ages love playing instruments in the music classroom.

If you step into my music classroom, you will see students dancing, moving, singing, or playing instruments. I try to incorporate instruments into my lessons as much as possible to keep students engaged and give them the building blocks to learn lifelong skills. I am truly blessed to teach all 430+ students at Washington and can't wait for another musical year!

My Project

These Tubano drums would mean the world to our students! Many students are not exposed to instruments and sounds of different cultures and these drums can help open up new experiences for the students. Tubanos, an African drum, open up opportunities for students to keep a steady beat, play rhythms, accompany songs, and participate in a drum circle.

These three Tubano drums will help increase our instrument inventory and give students the ability to play in a drum circle!

There is nothing like seeing the excitement on a student's face when they enter the music classroom and instruments are set out for the lesson. Playing in a drum circle helps students play as an ensemble, practice a steady beat, and open up opportunities to improvise with support from their peers!
