I have 29 wonderful 5th-grade students, which include special education students, magnet students, English Language Learners, and intervention students. They are very enthusiastic about learning and are always eager to explore new things. They love coming to school every day, and always have a big smile on their faces, despite the socioeconomic hardships they endure in the community in which they live. They attend a school in California, in a low-income neighborhood. The school is both a regular and highly gifted/magnet institution. However, my students are part of the regular school and do not have access to the materials and enrichment activities that the magnet students have.
The air quality in California has diminished in the recent months due to the many wildfires that have affected our area. In addition, the soaring temperatures we have been experiencing lately have made the air quality even worse. Furthermore, this year I have a few students who suffer from asthma that can be triggered by poor air quality. That is why we would like to have an air purifier in the classroom to ensure that the air the students are breathing is clean and fresh. If students are breathing clean and healthy air, they will be less likely to get sick from airborne illnesses. Thus making sure they are ready to learn. The filters will ensure that the air purifier is always running in top condition to clean the air in our room.
Having clean and fresh air in the classroom is very important for my students because it will create an environment that is clean and conducive to learning.
When students are healthy, they are more alert, more engaged in the lessons, and perform better academically.
Thank you in advance for considering donating to our project. My students and I will be forever grateful.
