Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of working in a Title I school in the Bronx. I have the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten this year. My students are eager to learn, in spite of not always having the materials that they need, as many of them live in the shelters. Some of my students have Individual Education Plans (IEPs), which help me to meet that child's specific needs.
I want to bring fun math and literacy into my classroom.
Children need to understand that school can be fun and educational. It's possible to giggle and learn from school or from home.
My Project
I would love to spend afternoons reading books with my students but unfortunately, most of our books were given out to students last year.
Imagine a class of kindergartners, reading during their 12 minutes of independent time, the same 1 or 2 books.
We need a supply of level A and B books, so we can practice how to read.
It would be fantastic to be able to have fiction books, and non-Fiction books so the children can begin to practice, how to read a book. Hopefully, it will create a love for reading as well as the necessary pre reader skills that they need to do.
In addition these books, are so necessary for new readers. They need to read as many books as possible. Reading is a skill that needs to be practiced everyday. Please help my students get some classroom Level A/B books.
