Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful sixth, seventh and eighth graders! What can I say about them? Simply put, they are amazing, intelligent, energetic, outgoing and curious human beings who every day, bring a smile to my face.
They live in a low-income high poverty area and they are eager to read, write, and learn!
They attend a school funded through Title I, and many of my students are English Learners. As technology continues to take over a big part of their daily lives, I want to make sure that students are able to create work that they can show-off to parents, staff, and students. My students are not only tech-savvy but critical thinkers who are ready to take on the world!
My Project
Hooray! Our middle school finally has a book club but our school lacks a librarian and as a result, our library is currently closed.
Not having a functioning library at our school prevents students from being able to check out books.
Therefore, students rely on my classroom library to check out books. Although I have a good selection of books in my classroom library, I don't have extra copies of books that are needed for a book club.
I am requesting various titles of novels to get our book club going. We need different titles to get our book club through the rest of the school year.
