Our team has players from all over Queens, NY from all different backgrounds and with varying levels of tennis experience.
While some are beginners just starting out, and others have been taking lessons since they were 5--All love playing!
Since the tennis season in NYC always starts March 1st, they brave the cold, the snow, the rain, locked courts, slush lagoons, broken nets, and the general public with whom we share the courts with! None of this stops the squad from playing the sport that they love and being all smiles when out on court playing.
Ours is a wonderful school in Flushing, Queens where 55% of the student body get free or reduced price lunch. Players on the team are hard-working and are often involved in many different school clubs and organizations as well as being part of the varsity tennis team.
My Project
In short--These tennis balls will allow us to play tennis! They will be used mostly for playing matches against other schools here in the city (need 6 cans of new balls for each match) and also for practices. In years past, we've run out of balls midway through the season and had to play with dead balls, which can be frustrating! Hopefully this will prevent that and let these kids do what they came out to do--which is learn to play tennis! Your contribution goes a long way towards making it happen and is greatly appreciated by everyone on the team!
