This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We sing in the music room every day and would use an ipod to stream music. We want to be singing well and preparing for monthly programs, but we're wasting precious minutes changing out cds. "Time is of the essence" and we don't have time to waste!

We are a Title I school with limited financial resources, with most of the funds available used for academic endeavors.

There are 600 students in our school and each one of them comes to the music room. They are beautiful singers and dedicated to doing their best.

My Project

Utilizing an ipod will enable students to tailor playlists for each grade level and performing group. They will be able to flow seamlessly through each song and activity, making the most of every minute. The ipod can be connected to our sound system and make performances logistically easier. Students will learn to engineer the sound system and ipod for performances. They will also be able to record practice sessions on the computer and play them back on the ipod for rehearsals. When the students record their audition materials, they will be able to use the ipod to share their recordings with the classroom teachers.

Our monthly performances give the parents and community an opportunity to see our students "shine".

Being part of a performing group teaches cooperative effort, a great work ethic, and builds confidence.
