Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students face challenges both in and out of the classroom that often times seem never ending. Despite the ongoing struggles, they come to school eager to learn and ready to face any new obstacles in school. I strive, as their teacher, to provide ample opportunities to succeed and get the education they deserve. Learning should be enjoyable and full of memorable experiences; I aim to provide that for my students, regardless of the myriad challenges we face.
My Project
Whole group instruction is crucial in a first grade classroom! Students spend a lot of time on the carpet participating in lessons together.
Right now we do not have an easel, and we need one to help us learn!
I would love to begin each day with a welcome message on the easel that students would respond to in a writing notebook. Easels can be used to hang anchor charts on, teach math, or even participate in interactive writing lessons. They are used constantly throughout the day.
There is a storage on the bottom of the specific easel I am requesting, and this would be helpful to store materials that we will reuse throughout the week. As of now, I need to put away books and materials each day and then dig them out the following day to reuse. The storage space on this easel will help with organization, efficiency and time maximization - all of which are my goals for the new school year!
