Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school consists of over 700 students in preschool through fifth grade. Almost 90% of our population is considered low income and qualifies for free lunch. Our school represents a wide range of cultures.
My students are newcomers from another country, struggling readers but true athletes that can communicate with anyone while playing basketball or any team sport.
They are passionate and willing to work hard as they transition from one community to the next. Through teamwork, they are accomplishing their American dreams.
My Project
According to a new study by Latitude, an international research consultancy, robots can promote new learning and creativity possibilities in children and can offer new opportunities for technologists and educators to tackle common difficulties that kids come across during their learning process. I want these different types of robots to promote creative risk-taking and self-direction and it can improve my students experiences with technology. They will build the robot after school. The students will use critical thinking to solve any problems they will encounter. Building these robot can be challenging but fun at the same time. They will have so much fun learning during their robotics time. For this robotics time they will build the the Vex robot. They will work in groups of four. It will be an amazing time for my students. They will learn so much and will be prepare for the future in technology. I will also start a Vex Team to compete next school year. It will be a great opportunity.
