This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special because they love to come to school each day! On weekends or school breaks, I will ask the students if they had a good time off, and a lot will say no because they missed school and their teachers. It is heartwarming and humbling because for a lot of students, school is the best part of their lives. They know they have people at school who genuinely care about them and want the best for them.
My students need help buying supplies as many of them cannot afford the necessities to be prepared every day for school.
This is a fact of life for many of them, so I need to use unconventional ways to obtain what they would deem an extra supply, but for my technology class, I deem a necessity.
The school I teach in is a wonderful generational neighborhood. A lot of my current students are the offspring of my former students. In addition, many of the teachers have been teaching at this same school for decades, myself included. It is really a wonderful school to teach in with amazing students and staff members to spend my days with.
My Project
My students need new computer chairs. I would like my computer lab to be a welcoming oasis for my students. A place where we not only have nice computers, but nice computer chairs to sit on while working on the computers.
Our current chairs in the computer lab are over 30 years old, and they wobble, wobble, wobble.
My students need new computer chairs to be able to have the best possible learning environment while in the computer lab.
The students need to know that the equipment in the lab is of the best quality I can offer them. With nice working necessities like a chair, the students will understand that I am trying to provide the best I can for them because they are deserving.
With nice chairs and lab equipment, I can provide a comfortable learning environment for all of my students.
