Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the first time that you ever saw a story that you wrote printed? I am hoping that my students get to have their ABC book about Nutrition printed.
I currently teach 26 very sweet first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.
My Project
My students will be creating and illustrating an ABC book about proper nutrition and health. For example, for the letter A they might draw and write the word apple. For the letter B, they might draw and write a banana. Each child will be responsible for a different letter of the alphabet. When they complete their letter of the alphabet, we hope to book their pictures together to form a Nutrition ABC book. Each child will get their own book after the books are printed.
Please make the Nutrition ABC book a reality by providing my first graders with a color printer.
I can't wait to see their expressions when their work is printed in color and their book published.
