Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in Central Phoenix, in a Title I school. We have a large population receiving free or reduced-price lunch, and many of my students can't afford basic school supplies. I work hard at helping my students believe in themselves and setting high expectations in both their academic life and personal life.
My students want to be the best person that they can be.
Our school is often compared to a wealthier school nearby and our kids understand they have monetary limitations their counterparts do not and that often hurts their pride. We, as a school, work hard to help our kids strive for their personal best and help in every way we can.
My Project
Often my students need me to print class projects, reports, recommendation letters, and resumes for jobs. This could be more easily accomplished if there was a printer in the classroom.
Many of my students do not have internet access at home, much less computers and printers.
We have access to Chromebooks in the room, so adding a printer to the class would make printing assignments from Google Classroom much simpler. Having a printer in the class would be to everyone's advantage. In our student-centered classroom, they would be able to print projects and presentations for immediate use. Having the feedback from their peers would be immeasurable.
