Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With class sizes growing each year, classrooms are getting more and more crowded. Space is limited and yet teachers are still expected to do more with less! Having mobile technology in the classroom is a great way for all students to have equal access to learning activities.
My first grade students are wonderful, deserving children who have a strong desire to learn to read.
Our school works hard to meet the ever-rising state testing standards, and my students need all the help they can get to meet their goals. With limited school budgets, technology is often hard to come by in our school.
My Project
With iPod Nanos, our listening center would be complete! I would be able to upload and convert books on CD and my students could listen as they follow along with the book in front of them. Reading Fluency is one of the most important skills that my students need to master and listening to stories as they read helps build their fluency greatly. I could also record myself and my students reading and let them listen independently.
The ability to complete our listening center will be a huge addition to our literacy rotations!
Young children really enjoy being read to and listening to stories again and again. The benefits to their reading fluency would be immense!
