Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th, 5th, and 6th grade ESL students attend a high needs school in Massachusetts. All of my students are newcomers to the United States and some have interrupted learning.
My highly motivated scholars have inquisitive minds and a thirst for learning.
As Newcomers my students need extra supports such as bilingual texts, picture cues, and small group support to meet their more diverse needs as learners. Our classroom is designed to create an intense amount of targeted differentiation to help our students acclimate to a new country and language.
My Project
The supplies that we have requested are all high impact materials.
We need masking tape to hang important class created anchor charts and student work.
Using the popsicle sticks, students will play a fun game called Kaboom that will help them practice sight words and multiplication facts for example. The color ink will be used to print special picture resources. All of the students in my class greatly depend on picture cues when learning new vocabulary so color ink is an essential tool for our classroom. We will use the laminating pouches to preserve these valuable picture and vocabulary resources for years to come.
