Help me give my students a new and clean rug to learn on!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students walk in our classroom every day full of energy, excited to be with their friends and ready to learn. They all have moderate to severe disabilities.
However, their disabilities do not define them; each child is unique in their likes, dislikes, needs, and desires.
Each of my students has a unique personality but, in the classroom, we are one big family. They treat each other with respect, and they all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
With the belief that every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths, sometimes, all it takes is exposure, patience, and motivation. All of my students come from low-income families and all students receive free lunches each day. With the odds not in their favor, these students have goals and ambitions that they want to reach, even especially getting the support in the classroom. With your donations, we are striving to reach their goals.
With a classroom rug, my students will have a richer environment to learn. There are many hours in the day and we do a variety of activities both in a group and individually. Our learning environment needs to contain engaging and developmentally appropriate material. Our classroom needs learning centers-clearly defined areas set aside in a learning environment where the children can have easy access to materials and engage in independent and self-direct learning activities. The rug we are requesting will be used for circle time. Circle time provides a time for listening, developing attention span, promoting oral communication, and learning new concepts and skills.
