Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my special education classroom involves a lot of time out of our desks and learning through our bodies and in places we are comfortable. Our biggest challenge involves keeping the students feeling calm and comfortable in our classroom so their mind can completely focus on learning.
I have a self contained special education classroom with 2nd and 3rd grade students who love to learn.
We love doing our reading to self and buddy reading on the floor in our classroom. My school is a public school that services children of various needs and abilities and welcomes all students. My classroom has an active group of learners who would much rather learn on the floor than to be stuck at a desk all day!
My Project
With this classroom rug the children in my class will have a place to sit and lay on that is clean and has very calming colors so they may feel like their classroom is home and comfortable. The children love to do station work with math and reading and will have a better place to sit during those times as well as during our group learning times where we sit and listen to stories or learn new lessons on the carpet.
This rug will improve our classroom and finish off a great year where we have made our classroom into a wonderful comforting place to learn and be proud of.
It will change my students lives by allowing them to learn how their bodies learn without having to sit on a cold floor.
