Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing, and really want to learn as much as we are wanting to teach them! My students are around 11 and 12 years old, mostly all from Latin America, and are on a free lunch program. Our school is huge. We have over 1,000 students and we lack all major resources. We go from Pre-K to 8th grade, with mono and bi-lingual classes. Lastly, we are in the fourth largest city in the state of New York.
My Project
These books will help me start the process of building a library. My students will have the free will to read any of the books they want! Whenever they want! Why not? They will be able to learn lots of things, I picked books that they would not only find interesting, but it will teach them life lessons.
My project will make a difference because it will allow my ENL students the chance of reading.
A lot of my students live with working parents, some working 2-3 jobs. Their parents do not have time to take their kids to the library. The classroom library would give them the chance to always have books at their fingertips.
