Help me give my students a creative way to develop team-building skills, critical thinking skills, and more, while learning science content in high school using Breakout EDU Kits.

My urban kids choose Anatomy and Physiology, Forensics, and/or Botany as a science class. I have the opportunity to see them grow and develop from their first science class in 7th grade to their chosen electives in eleventh and twelfth grade. My science students live in city of Cincinnati & come from a myriad of ethnic backgrounds. Our community is diverse yet most of our students come from a low income and high mobility city.
My students are tech savvy and hungry for new educational technology & engagement.
My students need opportunities to work together in teams as they learn using problem solving skills.
Many of my students receive exposure to technology at school and not at home. Resources are not often found in the household due to the lower economic conditions found in many areas surrounding our school. Most of my students do not have Internet at home and it's my job to saturate their learning environment with fun, thought provoking & engaging activities. These kids should be able to come into the class and leave inspired to grow and learn more about our ever changing world and themselves.
The Breakout EDU kit contains a wooden box that comes with a collection of locks, hidden contraptions, timers, keys, and other “diversion hardware” that can be used to play the educational games available for free from the Breakout EDU store. Breakout EDU games are called "breakouts." The breakouts teach teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting by presenting participants with challenges that ignite their natural drive to problem-solve just as scientist do.
Breakouts can be used to teach core content in science like organ systems, chemical formulas, Claims, Evidence, Reasoning skills and have embedded standards that apply problem solving strategies with team building.
The Breakout EDU box will allow our students the opportunities to learn and refine these skills in a relaxed, fun environment.
