I teach at a school that appreciates and places an emphasis on the arts. The student's artwork is display throughout the community in different offices and businesses. In the spring there is a district wide art show for all the schools in the district. The show includes an evening reception that parent's and the community are invited to celebrate the arts with the student artists.
My students are enthusiastic about their artwork and appreciate every learning opportunity they can get their hands on.
In the art room I work very hard implementing standards from their classrooms into their art projects. The students like that their artwork reflects their own personal style and that they can add individualized details that reflect their own interests.
My Project
We spend a week or sometimes up to 3 weeks working on a concept, artist, or an idea. Students complete their artwork at all different times. Some finish quickly and others take their time. That means some students can have a lot of extra time in the art room once their art project is completed.
I would love to add a bookcase to our carpet area so that there could be a reading station for the early finisher students.
I only have high shelves in my art room that are not accessible to students. With this bookcase we would be able to store all of the art books for students to read in their free time. Students can have a seat on the comfy chairs or rug and read an inspirational book with their free time!
