I have a group of 26 eager to learn first graders. We are always so excited to learn about various Science and Social Studies topics. We are at a Leader in Me school where we not only encourage but also help all students find the leader within. We use STEM to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. We love incorporating technology in our learning experiences. We work hard each day and know that with our growth mindsets anything is possible.
My Project
Each month a packet of Weekly Readers arrive in our classroom, and my students are so THRILLED! The kids are so excited to see what we will be learning with a reader for each week. We use the digital aspect of the Weekly Reader site and learn with videos and games to enhance the magazines.
Science and Social Studies are some of our favorite school subjects, but we need to place so much emphasis on reading in first grade, that often times these areas are overlooked - but not in our class!
We bring in our Science and Social Studies topics through great literature and Scholastic Weekly Readers!
My students are very enthusiastic about science and social studies, so I try to find fun ways to incorporate these topics with language arts and math. I want students to have the opportunity to explore and learn about the world around them.
We love exploring new topics, and Weekly Readers provide that perfect opportunity. I would LOVE to be sure my students this year have the same learning that previous classes have had. These readers bring in various science and social studies topics that align perfectly with our first grade curriculum. The best part about Weekly Readers is the amazing photos and images that are in color, and students are able to take their Weekly Readers home and share their learning with their family.
